SFB 1313: 5 doctoral positions and 2 post-doctoral positions
SFB 1313 is an interdisciplinary research centre combining 12 research groups at the University of Stuttgart from various fields such as mathematics, engineering and computer science. Further national and international partners from Europe and the USA also contribute their expertise.
The overall aim of SFB 1313 is to develop physical, mathematical and computational models for interface-driven processes in porous-media systems, e.g. energy storage in the sub-surface, fracking, damage to concrete or bone, analysis of fuel cells, salt precipitation, bio-clogging.
Within SFB 1313, a structured doctoral programme (IRTG-IMPM) includes a supervision concept, measures for international mobility as well as a tailored qualification programme with subject-based and soft-skill courses.
Positions are being offered in the following research projects:
- Fracturing porous solids with pore content (B02)
- Hydromechanics of fractures and fracture networks. A combined numerical multiscale and experimental investigation (B05)
- A Lattice-Boltzmann investigation of two-phase electrolyte flow in porous structures with morphology alterations and tunable interfacial wetting behaviour (postdoc) (C01)
- Process-dependent porosity-permeability relations for fluid-solid reactions in porous media (C05)
- Visualization of multi-field processes in porous media (D01)
- Parallel numerical coupling methods for interface problems (D02)
- Development and realisation of validation benchmarks (postdoc) (D03)

Applicants should hold a master’s or equivalent degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Process Engineering, Computational Science, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline with above-average results. They are expected to show a high level of proficiency in both spoken and written English.
