Senior Researcher in Quantitative Methods

as part of the Political Economy Research Group
headed by Prof. Lucio Baccaro


The Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (MPIfG) is seeking a senior researcher with excellent skills in quantitative methods and substantive research interests in political economy or economic sociology.
The successful applicant should have in-depth knowledge of quantitative research methods, especially with regard to the design and analysis of large surveys. Familiarity with topic modeling and other techniques of quantitative analysis of textual data is a plus. The successful candidate will be part of the political economy research group headed by Prof. Lucio Baccaro. Applicants are required to have completed a PhD in political science, sociology, economics, or statistics, and show a promise of excellence in their publication record. Excellent English is essential.
The position is for an initial three-year period with an option, following a positive evaluation, for another three years. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to pursue a habilitation and to teach at the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE, imprs.mpifg.de). Involvement in the methods training program at the MPIfG is expected.
We offer excellent working conditions in an internationally oriented research institute. Pay and benefits depend on qualifications and are based on the German public sector pay agreement (TVöD Bund).
