Research Staff Member / PhD Student (m/f)

Candidates require a degree in Natural Sciences (Master / Diploma) in the areas of Physics or Electrical Engineering with a focus on lasers or optoelectronics.
The research will be about design and usage of simulation software as well as experimental characterization of diode lasers and systems. The aim is to develop new microsystems based on near-infrared high-power diode lasers with integrated gratings and varying active zones.
Work experience in the fields of diode lasers, semiconductor technology and optical resonators is beneficial. Diode laser manufacturing mandates long value chains; hence candidates should possess a high degree of organizational skills as well as the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team to successfully master the demanding research tasks. Sufficient fluency of spoken and written English is compulsory, German highly desirable. If applicable, you will get the opportunity to use this work for obtaining a PhD degree.
The position is available from January 1st, 2018. Payment is according to TVöD (collective salary scheme for German public service). The appointment is initially limited in time to 2 years.
