Conserving – Exploring – Exploiting

The IPK is one of the world’s leading international institutions in the field of plant genetics and crop science. Its research program and services contribute significantly to conserving, exploring and exploiting crop diversity. Its research goals are driven by the need to ensure an efficient and sustainable supply of food, energy and raw materials, thereby addressing a major global ecological challenge.

Research Group Leader - Biotic Stress Genomics (f/m)

Breeding plays a key role in achieving global food security in the context of an increasing global population. Scientists in the department of Breeding Research are aiming to generate insights and develop innovative approaches to allow the genetic diversity of crop plants to be better exploited as a way of achieving future breeding goals. The research group of Biotic Stress Genomics should focus on functional genomic approaches for durable resistance of crops (preference wheat and/or barley) by applying for instance automated disease phenotyping, gene silencing, transcript profiling, allele mining, or population genetic approaches.
