Job advertisement No. 003-2018The Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden with its Institutes of Macromolecular Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Polymer Physics, Polymer Materials, Biofunctional Polymer Materials and Theory of Polymers is one of the leading institutes of polymer research in Germany.
For the establishment of a research group to enhance of the research in the department Mechanics and Structure of the Institute of Polymer Materials we are calling for applications for the position of a research associate.
He shall establish a research group, which performs - based on the previous work of the department Mechanics and Structure - investigations of structural changes of polymers during deformation and fracture. The results shall be described by established or further developed approaches. Experimentally deformation experiments shall be coupled with synchrotron x-ray scattering experiments as well as thermography with high lateral as well as time resolution. An extension of the experiments into the sub-micron-range is preferable.
- PhD in physics or engineering or a comparable qualification, if possible experience as Postdoc
- experience with mechanical characterization of polymers and structure characterization, e.g. by synchrotron radiation, computer tomography, electron microscopy, AFM
- it is expected, that the applicant raises external funding to establish the research group and publishes his results.
