Soil Mechanics and Foundation / Geotechnical Engineering

(to succeed Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lutz Wichter)
commencing at the earliest opportunity.
The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is looking for a personality to represent the Department of Soil Mechanics and Foundation / Geotechnical Engineering which includes tunnel construction, soil dynamics, rock constructions and environmental technological relation in both research and teaching. The successful candidate shall bring expertise in numerical modelling of complex soil mechanical processes as well as design and construction of geotechnical structures.
Assigned to the professorship is a powerful soil mechanical laboratory which is part of the Research and Material Testing Laboratory (FMPA) at BTU. Moreover, the successful applicant leads an internationally recognised working group, which performs suitability tests and inspections of ground anchors, loading tests on piles and tensile tests on soil nails. Research in this field shall be continued and extended. The candidate is expected to cooperate with other departments and contribute towards interdisciplinary research.
Duties will include teaching of undergraduate and graduate students (in German and English) of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. Participation in academic self-administration and in further development of the profile of the faculty is expected.
Prerequisites for application are a doctoral degree with a specific focus on the above stated profile. Additionally, a Habilitation or equivalent qualifications are expected.

Other duties result from the requirements set by § 42 Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz (Higher Education Act of the State of Brandenburg - BbgHG) in conjunction with § 3 BbgHG.

Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is expected. Fields of research should be relevant for DFG (German Research Foundation) funding. Lectures are primarily to be held in German, fluency in English is expected.
