Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) is looking to fill the following chair starting on April 1st, 2018:

Professor of Scenography
Pay Group W3, 67 % (2/3-time position)

The focus of the project-oriented course of study for Exhibition Design and Scenography is the applied and theoretical examination of the staged space. To this end, interdisciplinary aesthetic practices of staging such as installation and sets, post-dramatic forms of theater, performance, and choreography in the fields of theater, film, and fine arts are applied and investigated.

Hiring requirements:
  • Relevant university degree and/or outstanding relevant accomplishments as an artist.
  • Special aptitude for artistic-creative, experimental work, usually evidenced by a renowned work of art and international professional practice.
  • Pedagogical abilities and teaching experience at artistic or film universities.
The professor is hired as a state employee (not as a civil servant). The position is limited initially to three years and may be extended by another three years. Parttime employment of less than 67 % of full-time hours is permitted; the minimum is 50 %.
