Professorship (W3)
Process and Plant Technology

commencing at the earliest opportunity.
The focus of research activities should be in one of the typical topics of the discipline, such as
  • modelling, simulation and optimization of chemical production processes
  • dynamic and model predictive control
  • loss prevention
  • technical project management for planning and building complex chemical plants
Specific background knowledge from the areas of chemical industry, fuels or environmental technology is welcome.
Teaching duties will include compulsory and elective units in Process and Plant Technology for various study programs on bachelor and master level, particularly Chemical Engineering (Verfahrenstechnik), Environmental Engineering (Umweltinge­nieurwesen), Renewable Raw Materials, Environmental and Resource Management.
Suitable candidates should have a general background in Chemical Engineering/ Process Technology or equivalent and have an expertise both in theoretical and experimental methods of their discipline. A record of high-ranking publications, experience in academic teaching, tuition of PhD candidates and in the acquisition of research grants or equivalent experience in the industry is a prerequisite. Further, BTU expects that candidates are ready to engage themselves in the management of the study programs and of faculty concerns.

Other duties result from the repuirements set by § 42 Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz (Higher Education Act of the State of Brandenburg (BbgHG) in conjunction with § 3 BbgHG.

Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is expected. Fields of research should be relevant for DFG (German Research Foundation) funding. Lectures are primarily to be held in German, fluency in English is expected.
