Professor of Biopolymers (pay grade: W 3)

to commence 1 April 2018. This is a permanent civil service position.
The work of the future Chairholder should be internationally recognized and cover current research topics in the area of structure, dynamics, function or interactions of biological macromolecules and involve modern methods of biomolecular NMR spectroscopy. He/She is expected to cooperate within the existing profile fields and research institutions of the University of Bayreuth, in particular with the research groups organized in the profile fields "Molecular Biosciences - structure, function and dynamics of biological macromolecules" and "polymer and colloid research" and in the associated research centers (BZMB, BIOmac, BIMF BZKG). He/She will teach biochemistry and biophysics of bio macromolecules in the bachelor’s degree program in Biochemistry, the master's degree program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and he/she will contribute to basic and advanced teaching in other relevant programs of the University of Bayreuth.
Requirements for this position (in accordance with Article 7 and Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG) are a university degree, a doctoral degree, a post-doctoral qualification to teach at a professorial level (Habilitation), and proven excellence in teaching. Evidence of equivalent scholarly achievement as a junior professor or in a non-university environment will also be considered. The ability to teach in Englisch is expected. Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be hired as civil servants (Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG).
