W3-Professorship in Educational Science
The position is preferably to be filled from April, 1st 2019 or otherwise by negotiation.
The future holder of the position will represent general educational sciences with a focus on social and cultural conditions of
education in teaching and research. The focus of the professorship will be the current social transformations of childhood and
youth in the context of the entire life span. The social, cultural, political and institutional contexts of growing up have to
be investigated. The research can consider for example processes of the medialisation of living conditions, questions of marginalization
and social inequality, difference and heterogeneity, new relationships of school based and extra-curricular learning as well as processes
of (de)institutionalization in the context of education policy. The professorship teaches in the BA and MA Educational Science degree
programs and in the Teacher Education Studies.
Expected are experiences in theoretical and empirical research in the field of educational science, in the acquisition of third-party
funding and in interdisciplinary cooperation. Application requirements are an above-average PhD in Educational Sciences and an additional
scholarly work in the profile area of the professorship (habilitation or equivalent qualification).
The Institut für Pädagogik of the Martin Luther University is currently being redesigned. As a team with strong research-orientation
in various educational science disciplines, we are looking for creative scientists to collaborate in the organization of teaching and research
at the institute and for cooperation within the Faculty and the Center for School- and Educational Research (ZSB). A location in the research
profile of the faculty is expected.
