W 3 – ENDOWED PROFESSORSHIP FOR TRANSLATIONAL UROLOGICAL

The future holder of the position will represent the field of Translational Urological Oncology in research and teaching. In case of appropriate qualification, he/she will be assigned to become the assistant medical director as well as the head of the section of urological oncology at the Urological University Hospital Mannheim. The W3-Professorship is provided with distinct standard lab equipment, staff and material expenses.
Active engagement in one or more research focus areas of the faculty (oncology, vascular biology and medicine, medical technology, neuronal plasticity and research on pain) is expected. The academic focus of the professorship is to be placed on the active enhancements of translational oncological research in the medical science of the University Mannheim. The future holder of the position shall actively contribute to cooperative projects and shall support the faculty with personal research projects funded by third-parties. An intensive cooperation with extra-university research institutions in the Rhein-Neckar metropolitan region (e.g. DKFZ, EMBL) is explicitly favored. The professorship shall participate intensively in the education in the curriculum of the urology as part of the model study programme MaReCuMplus.
Requirements for the application include a completed medical degree, the recognition to be a medical specialist in the field of urology, a doctoral degree as well as a habilitation according to § 47 para 2 of the federal state academic law, and a junior professorship which has been evaluated successfully or a comparable academic qualification. We expect both internationally recognized distinguished accomplishments if the field of translational urological oncology and didactic competence as well as cooperation and leadership skills, strength of integration for enhancing the model study programme MaReCuMplus and engagement in the academic self-administration. In addition to successful third-party funding, networking should be provided in thematically related research networks.
The position is initially limited in time to 5 years. After 5 years, further sponsorship by the founder is intended in case of an appropriately positive evaluation. If general civil servant eligibility and budgetary conditions are fulfilled, then direct appointment to temporary civil servant status is made.
