University Professor - salary grade W3for the chair of "Cytometry". The professorship at the TU will be in combination with a group leader position at the DRFZ, a Leibniz-Institute. The position will be located at the DRFZ. The appointment follows the „Berliner Modell” and will be located in Berlin. Reference number: III-487/17 (starting at the earliest possible / permanent / closing date for applications 22/02/18) Working field: The appointee will represent the area of „cytometry” in teaching and research. The research will concentrate on aspects of the modern cytometry with a special focus on the analysis of the microbial composition of the human gut flora and its influence on the regulation of the immune system.
The research focus will be the investigation of the human gut flora by modern flow cytometric techniques. The teaching activity of 2 SWS involves cytometry and intestinal inflammation. Requirements: Candidates must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act) [information sheet available by request], including a completed academic education, qualified achievements in research (PhD), post-doctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or equivalent qualification (e.g. documented by quality of scientific papers) and pedagogical didactic qualifications, to be given proof of by a teaching portfolio (for more information see TUB website, quick access no. 144242). We are looking for a scientist from the field of Biology, Medicine, Biotechnology or Biochemistry with an outstanding expertise in the field of cytometry. This should include the technology itself as well as current applications. We expect expertise in molecular biological methods and immunological methods as well to characterize pro- and eucaryotic organisms. Furthermore we expect long-term experience in cytometry, high-ranking publications, a documented track-record in third-party funding and contribution to current and future joint research projects as well as the initiation of new research projects including research associations. Teaching includes supervision of master students and PhD students. Responsibility in support of junior scientists and female and gender sensitive teaching are recommended.
