The future holder of this position will represent the field of functional and translational
Proteome Research in research and teaching.
This professorship will closely collaborate with the Deutsche Konsortium für Translationale
Krebsforschung (DKTK) at the partner site Freiburg focussing on basic science and
translational research. With this position, the Faculty of Medicine aims to strengthen,
the focus area "Oncology and Functional Imaging". Furthermore, the applicant is expected
to integrate in the interdisciplinary networks of the Collaborative Research Center
850 "Control of Cell Mobility in Morphogenesis, Cancer Invasion and Metastasis",
the Center of Biological Studies (BIOSS) and the Life Sciences research of the University.
A close collaboration with the Institut für Molekulare Medizin und Zellforschung is
intended to support translational research. An additional goal will be the establishment
and quality control of proteomic analyses in pathological diagnostics.
This professorship is particularly suitable as a starting position for highly qualified early

The Professorship will be set up as part of the Heisenberg-Program of the German Research
Foundation (DFG). It is therefore a prerequisite for the establishment and filling
of the professorship that a grant for a Heisenberg-Professorship submitted by the applicant
is granted by the DFG.

In line with the standards of the DFG, the position is initially limited to a 5 year W 3-Professorship according to § 50 paragraph 2 Landeshochschulgesetz (LHG) and can be converted into a tenured W 3-Professorship according to § 48 paragraph 1 (LHG) if receiving a positive evaluation. In case the employment is to be continued after the initial period, a new appeals procedure is not required.
