University Professor - salary grade W3for the chair of "Food Chemistry and Analytics". Reference number: III-486/17 (starting at the earliest possible / permanent / closing date for applications 17/11/17) Working field: The successful candidate has to represent the area of Food Chemistry and Analytics in its entirety. A focus in teaching should be the chemical transformations in food, as well as the development of methods for qualitative and quantitative analytics of foodstuffs. The main research activities should deal with the molecular basis of chemical and physical transformations of food.
Teaching responsibilities will focus primarily on programs in food chemistry for students pursuing state examinations (Staatsexamensstudiengang), but also BSc and MSc programs in food technology, as well as other programs of the faculty of process sciences. Classes have to be taught in German and English. In addition, the successful candidate should provide topics for and supervise Bachelor, Master and Doctoral theses. Topics should also be open for students of chemistry, food technology and biotechnology. Requirements: Candidates must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a finished academic education, qualified achievements in research (PhD), post-doctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or equivalent qualification (e.g. documented by the quality of scientific papers) and pedagogical didactic qualifications, to be given proof of by a teaching portfolio (direct acc. no. 144242).
- Subject-specific teaching experience, experience in leading a research group, and a well-defined and internationally excelling research profile in the field of the molecular basis of chemical and physical transformations of food are required.
- Experience in the acquisition and administration of third party-funded projects are a prerequisite, international experience preferable.
- In addition, experience in working with interdisciplinary teams, and competence in promotion of junior and female scientists as well as gender mainstreaming are welcome.
- For applicants who do not speak German, a commitment to swiftly learn the language is expected.
