Professorship (W3)
Cellular Bioprocess Engineering

with research orientation in the same field of study commencing at the earliest opportunity.
The advertised post strengthens the faculty in the field of Medical Biotechnology and the university in the field of Health Sciences. The successful candidate will represent the entire field of Cellular Bioprocess Engineering with respect to basic principles and applications. Hands-on experience in cell culture techniques with human cell lines and primary cells are mandatory. We expect a scientific profile in an actual research area with human cells that offers or allows for collaborations with other departments of the faculty’s biotechnology program and with Health Campus Brandenburg. Moreover, teaching activities in bachelor studies (German-speaking) and master studies (English-speaking) of biotechnology and possibly in other related biomedical studies are expected.
The applicant should have:
  • Completed an university degree in human or veterinary medicine, biology, biotechnology, or other related biomedical fields with doctorate (e. g. PhD or MD).
  • At least 5 years hands-on scientific research experience, following the doctorate graduation, in the field of cell biology/cell culture techniques, as well as sound experience in the advertised area of scientific profile, as can be documented by peer-reviewed scientific publications in suitable (high impact) journals.
  • Applicants from Germany should have successfully applied for and acquired external funding from e. g. DFG, BMBF or the EU. Candidates from other countries would have to show proof of having acquired research grants from their respective national funding agencies.
  • Teaching experience in biological sciences and in biomedically relevant basic topics.
The candidate shall ideally have experience in management of research and development cooperation projects between academia and industry.

Other duties result from the requirements set by § 42 Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz (Higher Education Act of the State of Brandenburg - BbgHG) in conjunction with § 3 BbgHG.

Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is expected. Fields of research should be relevant for DFG (German Research Foundation) funding. Lectures are primarily to be held in German, fluency in English is expected.
