The Professor is expected to fully represent the Chair in both instructional and
research activities. Candidates are expected to develop the focus of the chair in
more than one of the following topics:
Acoustics (Technische Akustik)
- Experimental, theoretical and numerical baseline investigations on the hysical mechanisms of noise generation in road traffic, rail traffic and air transportation, with preference on aerodynamic noise generation;
- Scientific investigations of complex noise issues under consideration of concurrence of multiple noise sources and superposition of multiple transmission paths;
- Measures for noise prevention or circumvention of noise transmission, e.g. through active absorbers as well as through passive measures (e.g. new materials in sound absorbers and acoustic optimisation of noise protection walls at high speed rails).
In teaching the candidate is expected to collaborate in all study courses of mechanical engineering as well as in other engineering study courses. Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is expected. Fields of research should be relevant for DFG (German Research Foundation) funding. Lectures are primarily to be held in German, fluency in English is expected.
