Professorship (W2)
Therapeutic Science (Therapiewissenschaft)

commencing at the earliest opportunity.
Practice-oriented positions come with a teaching duty of 18 weekly lecture hours.
The successful applicant is expected to be able to represent the department of Therapeutic Science in research, teaching and continuing education. In particular, he or she will have a thorough understanding not only of the theories and concepts of therapeutic science, but also of the practice-relevant aspects. His or her teaching activities should focus on the requirements of patient care as well as on evidence-based findings of therapeutic science and related medical and social sciences.
The successful candidate’s duties will include providing innovative help in developing the University’s focus on health sciences in general and contributing to the advancement of the relevant Bachelor and Master courses in particular. Likewise, the focus of the department of Therapeutic Science should be embodied in the applican’s research activities and support of graduate and undergraduate programs.
The Senftenberg Campus of the BTU provides state-of-the-art laboratories for complex performance diagnostics and computer-aided medical training therapy in the fields of orthopedic-neurological and cardiological rehabilitation. The candidate’s research plans should take this infrastructure into account and contribute to an internationally recognized advancement of the specific research areas at the institute of health sciences. Furthermore, existing and future cooperation with a range of health institutions (hospitals, physiotherapy practices, rehabilitation centres) in the field of physiotherapy is expected.
All applicants must have:
  • passed the state examination in physiotherapy;
  • practical experience in physiotherapy;
  • a university degree, preferably in physiotherapy, health science, rehabilitation science, medicine, medical education, or vocational education;
  • teaching and research experience in the field of physiotherapy;
  • relevant peer-reviewed publications;
  • experience supervising students (or, where applicable, apprentices)
  • knowledge and experience in university education;
It is preferred that applicants have experience establishing degree programs in the field of physiotherapy.

Other duties result from the requirements set by § 42 Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz (Higher Education Act of the State of Brandenburg - BbgHG) in conjunction with § 3 BbgHG.

Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is expected. Fields of research should be relevant for DFG (German Research Foundation) funding. Lectures are primarily to be held in German, fluency in English is expected.
