The Faculty of Geosciences and Geography, Institute of Earth Sciences (Institut für Geowissenschaften, IfG) at the Goethe University Frankfurt/ Main and the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam-German Research Centre of Geosciences (GFZ) invite applications for the following joint appointment to be filled as soon as possible:

Professorship (W2)
in "Atomistic Modelling of Geomaterials"

The position is limited to 5 years and will be affiliated to Section 4.3 "Chemistry and Physics of Earth materials" of the Department 4 "Geomaterials" of the GFZ and to the "Institute of Earth Sciences" at the Faculty of Geosciences and Geography of the Goethe University.
The successful candidate will be expected to initiate and be responsible for the research program "Atomistic Modelling of Geomaterials". The ideal candidate must have demonstrated to be an interdisciplinary oriented scientist working on geological, geophysical and mineralogical topics at the atomic scale using state-of-the-art computing modelling methods and studying structure-property-relationships.
Applications should include a clear outline of how to integrate the candidate’s research profile into the working groups at GFZ and IfG. The successful candidate will be expected to actively contribute to the research field of Geosciences both in Potsdam and Frankfurt, and to establish and maintain national and international collaborations.
