The School of Medicine and Health Sciences seeks applications for a

Professorship (W2) for Immunology

commencing as soon as possible.
We look for an internationally renowned specialist in basic research on the immune system. An outstanding profile in research, publications and acquisition of third-party funds as well as leadership and management competences and profound experience in the diverse topics of immunology are required. The appointed professor should be proficient in cellular, molecular and biochemical immunology, including the corresponding research methods, and be able to establish and foster ties with the field of clinical immunology.
The appointed professor is expected to contribute actively to building up the European Medical School Oldenburg-Groningen and to develop new research foci in a tight research network with the departments of fundamental, translational and clinical research. Besides establishing new research topics, it is desired to cooperate with the existing research collaborations at the University’s medical and natural science schools. Furthermore, the tight cooperation with the corresponding clinical departments of the hospitals of the Medical Campus of Oldenburg University is expected.
The successful candidate is expected to cover the complete field of teaching in immunology. He or she will be engaged in advancing the innovative teaching program as part of the integrated medical curriculum as well as other degree programs where applicable and is expected to support new concepts in teaching and learning.
Preconditions for employment are specified in § 25 Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz (NHG). To increase the proportion of women in science, equally qualified female candidates will be given preference. Applicants with disabilities will be preferentially considered in case of equal qualification. The position is suitable for part-time employment.
