Ruhr-Universität Bochum

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of Germany‘s leading research universities. The University draws its strengths from both the diversity and the proximity of scientific and engineering disciplines on a single, coherent campus. This highly dynamic setting enables students and researchers to work across traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties. The RUB is a vital institution in the Ruhr area, which has been selected as European Capital of Culture for the year 2010.
The Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology at the Ruhr University Bochum invites applications for a professorship position (W1, tenure track) in Microbial Biotechnology.
The applicant should have a strong profile in molecular biotechnology, protein biochemistry or microbial physiology, and strengthen the research focus of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology. Possible topics are biocatalysis, lipid metabolism or microbial secondary metabolites. Integration into current and future research programs, in particular the pending Graduate School "Microbial Substrate Conversion" and interdisciplinary cooperation are expected. We expect commitment to teaching on all levels in the Bachelor (B.Sc.) and Master (M.Sc.) of Science programs of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology.
An outstanding PhD degree and several years of independent research experience, ideally on an international level, are required. We welcome applicants with a track record of acquiring external funding. Willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the RUB is expected.
The Ruhr-Universität Bochum is an equal opportunities employer.
Complete applications with CV, lists of publications, grants and teaching activities, a description of research interests and future plans, and PDFs of the three most relevant publications should be sent to the Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of the Ruhr University Bochum, Prof. Dr. Matthias Rögner, 44780 Bochum, Germany, E-Mail: dekanat-biologie@ruhr-uni-bochum.de,
