The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology - Hans Knöll Institute - (HKI, www.leibniz-hki.de) investigates the pathobiology of human-pathogenic fungi and identifies targets for the development of novel natural product-based antibiotics. The Department of Molecular and Applied Microbiology invites talented and highly gifted candidates to apply for a
Postdoc Position (Microbiology)starting from January for three years initially. The successful candidate will work within the framework of a DFG-funded joint French-German research project on the structural organization of the initial infectious morphotype, the spore (conidium), of the human pathogenic fungus Aspergillus fumigatus. Main topics of the project may include:
- Deciphering the macromolecular organization of the Aspergillus fumigatus conidial cell wall by proteomic methods
- Construction and characterization of multiple gene-knockout mutants of A. fumigatus
- Studying the interaction of cell wall components and cell wall mutants with macrophages
- Testing of selected A. fumigatus mutants in a murine infection model for invasive aspergillosis
