Postdoc Position - Computer vision for 3D surface reconstruction of tissuesSpecifications

We invite you to apply if you are an image processing and/or computer vision expert (PhD) interested in designing a handheld device, such as a smartphone, for 3D surface reconstruction and surface curvature analysis of tissues. You will work together in a team of physicists and/or physics oriented biomedical or electric engineers, and with clinical researchers, on the development of a handheld optical skin diagnosis imager This team will work in a consortium consisting of the University of Twente (Biomedical Photonic Imaging and Robotics and Mechatronics), Radboudumc (Department Dermatology), hospital ZGT (Wound Expertise Centre), Martini Hospital Groningen (Burn Centre), and high tech companies Demcon, Focal Vision and Optics. Quest Medical Imaging and Cinoptics.
The 3D computer vision system to be developed will be used for a system for skin diagnosis. 3D tissue surface reconstruction algorithms and virtual/augmented reality technologies may enhance the quality and clinical applicability of such a system. You will join the www.ram.ewi.utwente.nl group of the University of Twente, and from here you contribute to the project goals by implementing and evaluating the surface reconstruction and virtual reality technologies. You will report on your research in papers in international scientific journals. When needed, you will also assist in the management of the project.
You have a PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electric Engineering or Computer Science with a specialisation in image analysis and computer vision. Skills in embedded system software development are valued. Team working skills are essential. As a researcher we expect you to be inventive and result oriented. You are a conceptual thinker and need excellent collaboration and communication skills. You keep yourself updated on the latest developments in your field of expertise and you stay in touch with your network.

Conditions of employment
As a postdoc researcher, you will be offered an employment contract for the duration of 2.5 years. Your gross monthly salary can vary, starting from € 3068,-, depending on your background and relevant experience. Additionally, the University of Twente provides excellent facilities for professional and personal development, an 8% holiday allowance, and an 8,3% end of year bonus.
