Junior Research Group Leader
for Forest Pathology
- pay grade 14 TV-L -

The regular working hours will be 100 % (currently 39.8 hours per week) with an initial, fixed-term contract for 3 years. An extension to a total period of five years is possible following a positive evaluation.
The successful candidate will establish an independent molecular research programme aimed at problems associated with microbial pathogens in the forestry sector. The junior research group will be involved with teaching, predominately in the Bachelor Programme „Molecular Ecosystem Sciences, which is taught in English. Practical international collaboration is also desirable.
The following are requirements for this position:
  • A scientific university degree with a very good final grade and a doctorate in a discipline related to life sciences (forestry or biology)

  • Relevant practical knowledge of microbial ecology and molecular techniques, preferably including forest pathogens

  • Experience abroad

  • Very good knowledge of English and a willingness to teach in English

Applications can be submitted immediately upon completion of a doctorate, but postdoctoral experience is welcomed. The Faculty offers an excellent working environment that will provide the junior research group with excellent opportunities to collaborate on a national and international level with research associations. The position can be used to further a scientific qualification, e.g. to achieve a postdoctoral teaching qualification.
