The successful applicant contributes substantially to bachelor, master and PhDprograms in Architecture and Urban Planning and is expected to extend his/her scientific research.
She/He will help to further develop the outstanding research profile and strategy of the BTU. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to research profiles such as Smart Regions and Cultural Heritage and particularly in research on the design process as a focal point of interest in architecture and urban planning. As a part of the Institute for History of Art and Architecture (IBK) the professorship combines research in architectural theory and architectural history with research in and on planning, design and building processes. Thus the candidate should be familiar with both fields. An active role in interdisciplinary research activities of the university and highly qualified teaching of undergraduate and master level courses is expected. The successful candidate is required to participate in faculty and university administration. She/He delivers substantial contributions to ensure and develop further the profile of the faculty.

Other duties result from the requirements set by § 42 Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz (Higher Education Act of the State of Brandenburg - BbgHG) applied in connection with § 3 BbgHG. In accordance with § 46 BbgHG junior professors are appointed officials for the duration of up to four years for a limited time. Altogether, at a positive intermediate evaluation a prolongation shall on be carried out for not more than six years. Lectures are primarily to be held in German, fluency in English is expected. Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is expected. If the candidate was employed as a teaching or research assistant before or after receiving his/her doctoral degree, the sum of both phases - doctoral research and employment - shall not have exceeded 6 years.
