Junior Professorship - salary grade W1

for the field of "Smart Water Networks".
The junior professorship is to be funded in the context of the Einstein Center Digital Future. The professorship is offered under the reserve that funds are granted.

V-448/16 (starting at 01/04/17 / for a period of 3 years; an extension of 3 more years is possible after successful evaluation / closing date for applications 13/10/16)

Working field:

Teaching within Bachelor and Master programs in the area of Smart Water Networks, e.g. Smart Metering/ Smart City/ Smart Grid, designing smart water networks and digitalization of fluid systems.
Research in smart water and wastewater infrastructures, which should encompass the following areas:
  • Digital strategies and solutions to optimize the complex water and wastewater infrastructures, focusing on quality, environmental protection and resource efficiency.
  • Linking of different, data-based systems (control systems of infrastructures, simulation of supply networks, meteorological predictions, etc.).
  • Ecologically, economically and socially acceptable use of Smart Metering/ Smart City Solutions/ Smart Grid Solutions
  • Consequences, limits and risks linked with the digitalization of water and wastewater infrastructures.


Successful applicants must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance with § 102a BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a completed academic education, qualified achievements in research and a particular qualification for academic work normally attested by the excellent quality of a PhD, and pedagogical didactic qualifications, to be proven by teaching experience and visualized in a teaching portfolio (for further information see TUB Website, quick as no. 144242).
Qualified research achievements and expertise in at least one of the areas described above, as well as extensive knowledge in the area of informatics and computer sciences, in particular in complex networks and Big Data. Additionally, basic knowledge of fluid systems is desirable. Ability to lead a working group. Experience in the procurement and management of third-party funded research projects.
