The Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology IWES Northwest covers applied research and development
for the complete wind-power value chain. Its particular strength lies in the combination of a worldwide unique test infrastructure
with extensive expertise in reliability and validation. With more than 250 employees and students at its headquarter in Bremerhaven
as well as at its branches in Hanover, Bremen and Oldenburg, IWES Northwest serves national and international clients. Right now,

What we expect from you
You have successfully completed a degree in an Engineering or Natural Sciences major or have comparable expertise and have worked professionally for a number of years in industry or industry-oriented research, ideally coupled with responsibility for staff, budgets and acquisitions. Your specialism is in the measurement of wind conditions for wind energy use, ideally with LiDAR technology. Experience in the fields of offshore meteorology, wind farm development, wind turbine design parameters, and/or wind field measurement is desirable. Since Fraunhofer IWES Northwest performs a variety of duties at an international level, an excellent command of both German and English is a prerequisite. You possess refined organizational, communication, and leadership skills, a high level of self-motivation, creativity, and flexibility, plus you enjoy working as part of a team.
What you can expect from us
The team’s aim is to develop methods and instruments which will be used in the wind measurement industry in the future and generate added value for industry and society alike. The team’s main activities include the Fraunhofer IWES wind LiDAR buoy, which is employed both on behalf of wind farm developers to determine the wind potential and in research projects for offshore wind measurements.
You will take on a role with leadership responsibilities in a dynamic team passionate about wind measurement. The focuses are on offshore site assessment and the use of the LiDAR technology in wind energy. As team leader, you will be responsible for the professional and disciplinary management and organization as well as the strategic and technological orientation and further development of the team. In addition, you will also be responsible for the acquisition of new industry projects and the initiation of publicly funded research projects at both national and European level.
