Full Professor of Communication Electronics

(pay grade: W3)

to commence as soon as possible. This is a permanent civil service position.
The applicant will be responsible for research and teaching on the topic of communication electronics and will have a strong academic and engineering profile in this topic. He or she will complement existing competencies at the faculty and strengthen the cooperation with the Department of Computer Science. The emphasis of his or her research will be on one or more of the following topics:
  • Communication electronics (digital and analogue) for the Internet of Things
  • Technologies for high-speed interfaces to sensors and actuators employed in autonomous vehicles
  • New data acquisition and control interfaces for highly interconnected systems
  • Efficient electronics for autonomous energy supply (energy harvesting)
  • Electronics for real time control of processes and the corresponding data acquisition
The topics of his or her research will be connected to the established areas of research in the areas of energy, mobility, production technology, and computer science.
The professor has teaching obligations on the foundations of analogue and digital electronics and will play a major role in developing a new degree programme in electrical engineering and computer science. All introductory courses will be taught in German. The applicant must be able to take responsibility for the acquisition and research management of publicly funded as well as industry-funded third-party projects.
Requirements for this position (according to BayHSchPG Article 7 and Article 10 para 3) are a university degree, a doctoral degree, proven excellence in teaching and a post-doctoral qualification to teach at professorial level (Habilitation). Alternatively, evidence of equivalent scholarly achievement, for example as a junior professor or in a non-university environment, will also be considered. The ability to teach in English is expected. Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be granted civil servant status (Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG).
