Full Professorship (W 3) for Regenerative Pharmacologyin the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology to be filled as soon as possible.
This professorship is particularly suitable as a starting position for highly qualified early career researchers.
The position will carry responsibility in both research and teaching. The professorship shall identify the molecular mechanisms of development and disease in order to translate knowledge from stem cell biology into therapeutic applications and regenerative pharmacology. The candidate is expected to strengthen the research activities in the institute in the field of cardiovascular epigenetics and to cooperate with fields of life sciences at the Faculty of Medicine and at the University.
Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree in medicine, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
The Professorship will be set up as part of the Heisenberg-Program of the German Research Foundation (DFG). It is therefore a prerequisite for the establishment and filling of the professorship that a grant for a Heisenberg-Professorship submitted by the applicant is granted by the DFG.
In line with the standards of the DFG, the position is initially limited to a 5 year W 3-Professorship according to § 50 paragraph 2 of the State Law for Higher Education (Landeshochschulgesetz, LHG) and can be converted into a tenured W 3-Professorship according to § 48 paragraph 1 (LHG) if receiving a positive evaluation. In case the employment is to be continued after the initial period, a new appeals procedure is not required.
