Full Professorship of Economics with a specialization in quantitative economic history

to commence in the winter semester 2017/2018. This is a permanent civil service W 3 position.
The new chair holder represents his area of expertise in research and teaching. The candidate should have an international track-record of research in the application of econometric methods in economic history with publications in leading international journals. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to interdisciplinary research within and across faculties of the University. He or she will also be expected to work closely with members of the Faculty of Cultural Studies in the Master Programme History & Economics as well as contribute to the emerging fields of the Structural and Development Plan STEP 2020+ of the University of Bayreuth, specifically „Governance and Responsibility“ or „Cultural Encounters and Transcultural Processes“.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise in English, and offer courses in quantitative economic history in the Master Programme History & Economics as well as in other degree programmes with an economic focus.
Requirements for this position (in accordance with Article 7 and Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG) are a university degree, a doctoral degree, proven excellence in teaching and a post-doctoral qualification to teach at a professorial level (Habilitation). Alternatively evidence of equivalent scholarly achievement for example as a junior professor or in a non-university environment will also be considered. The ability to teach in English is expected. Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be hired as civil servants (Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG).
