Full Professor (W2) (W3 tenure-track) in Building Materials Science - Structural Materials
Faculty of Civil Engineering
We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research in the area of Building Materials Science - Structural Materials. The starting date is the next possible date. The position is limited to a fixed 5-year term, with the option of renewal as an unlimited, tenure-track W3 professorship position upon positive evaluation. The staff and equipment correspond to a W3 professorship. The appointment includes the cooperative direction of the Institute of Building Materials Science (ibac) with several working groups and professorships. The teaching responsibilities of the applicant are comprised in the Bachelor and Master programmes at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and other Faculties. The successful candidate is expected to further develop digital course offerings as well as course offerings in English. Moreover, a strong commitment to interdisciplinary research, the acquisition of major and collaborative research projects including fundamental and applied research, as well as an active participation in the subject areas of RWTH Aachen University is expected.

A Ph.D. degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research achievement as an assistant / an associate / a junior professor or university researcher and/or an outstanding career outside academia are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment to teaching are essential. The application should include supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language within the first 5 years.

The applicants should be able to work as part of a team and head the research institute in a motivating way. They should also have extensive experience in the cooperative direction of major research institutions, large-scale research projects or challenging engineering projects. Recognized expertise in the following areas is particularly welcome: We expect a strong interest in the research field of building and structural materials. The tasks include especially the fundamental and applied research in the field of binders and manufacturing techniques for concrete, mortar and composite materials. Additional task areas are concerned with the aspects of durability and sustainability.
