Full Professor (W2) in Applied Structural Geology
Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering
We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research in the area of Applied Structural Geology. The starting date is 01.08.2019. Recognized expertise in the following areas is particularly welcome: applied topics in structural geology, rock and mineral deformation with analytical methods, analogue and numerical modelling on different scales. We expect participation, engagement and development in the current curricula in Geosciences (Applied Geosciences, Georesource sciences Management, Joint Master's in Applied Geophysics) including all kind of field practical preferably in English and German language.

A Ph.D. degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research achievement as an assistant / an associate / a junior professor or university researcher and/or an outstanding career outside academia are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment to teaching are essential. The application should include supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language within the first 5 years.

The applicant should be able to lead and direct his institute and staff and to enroll scientific projects and interdisciplinary projects, e.g with engineering faculties. Experience in large coordinated academic projects or industrial cooperations and raising funding are expected. The RWTH concept is an integrated interdisciplinary technical university and the professorship will have a bridging function of material-related natural sciences and engineering science at RWTH University.
