Full Professor in » Nuclear Medicine «

pay scale W3; to begin in October 2017. The Full Professor will be appointed Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar.
Scientific environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Medicine. TUM School of Medicine is one of Germany’s top medical schools in research and in teaching.
Close interactions with the radiopharmaceutical GMP facility, with TUM Cells and TranslaTUM, with the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK) and the Comprehensive Cancer Center Munich (CCCM) as well as other German Health Centers are desirable.
The duties of TUM professors include research and patient care, teaching and the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert with international standing in research areas of nuclear medicine application.
The candidate is expected to coordinate applications for research networks (DFG, BMBF, EU) dealing with innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Furthermore, integration into the Munich School of Bioengineering is anticipated.
Teaching duties include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.
We are looking for a candidate with established scientific standing and high level, internationally recognized research. The candidate should hold an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, proven by excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment. Proof of possessing a medical license for Nuclear Medicine is required.
International scientific experience during the doctoral or postdoctoral phase is required. The successful candidate shows pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English.
Proven ability and experience in research or science management and leadership as well as proven ability to gain and to lead cooperative research projects and to attract third-party funding are required.

Additional information
As a rule, the holder of this professorship is not employed as a "Beamter" under German law. The duties related to patient care as Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, including the right to bill additional fees, are to be regulated separately in a head physician contract with the University Hospital’s board of management.
