W3 Foundation Professorship in „Entrepreneurship in Technology and Digitization“

The person to be appointed should represent the subject Entrepreneurship on a broad basis, both in teaching and research. Research is expected to focus on technology and knowledge-based start-ups, academic entrepreneurship, start-up and innovation financing, business models and business model innovation as well as open innovation with a particular emphasis on aspects of digital change. The professorship is funded by the Daimler Foundation through the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft.
In addition to excellent qualifications in independent scientific work, which should be documented by outstanding publications in the field of entrepreneurship research, a corresponding pedagogical aptitude is required as well as the ability to work in an interdisciplinary manner and to cooperate with external partners from science and industry. Ideally, the holder of the position should have some experience in initiating and managing a company.
The teaching duties include courses in the above-mentioned research areas as well as participation in the management and implementation of the part-time Master's degree in Intra- and Entrepreneurship at the University of Stuttgart, which is taught in cooperation with the Hochschule der Medien, Stuttgart. In addition, fundamentals of entrepreneurship must be offered to students of all disciplines and new formats, developed and implemented for promoting entrepreneurial skills and strengthening the start-up culture at the university.
Special emphasis is placed on inter-faculty cooperation within the university and a close link between theory and practice. Active participation is welcome in strategic projects of the University of Stuttgart and the State of Baden-Württemberg such as the Cyber Valley Baden-Württemberg and the research campus, ARENA2036, with the start-up innovation platform, STARTUP AUTOBAHN, which is located there, and in the Technology Transfer Initiative GmbH (TTI) of the University of Stuttgart.
The professorship will be assigned to a new Institute of Entrepreneurship in Technology and Science. Cooptation with one or more faculties is planned. The professorship will also assume a leading position in the Entrepreneurship Center of the University of Stuttgart, which is in planning. In this center, all activities of the University of Stuttgart related to start-up and entrepreneurship are to be concentrated and, in addition to research and teaching, this should include start-up support.
This professorship is expected to make a substantial contribution to the further development of Stuttgart as an attractive and leading location in the field of entrepreneurship with a global significance.
