The project is part of an international collaboration with Queen Mary Hospital, the flagship teaching
hospital of The University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong). Our group has previously developed in house pipelines for the independent
analysis of metagenomic, metatranscriptomic and meta-metabolomic data. In the framework of this project these pipelines will be
further revised and upgraded to accommodate combined analysis for a large number of multi-meta-omic samples. Furthermore, we plan
to integrate in novel ways these meta-omic datasets for modelling the association of microbial communities and C. albicans.
We expect that our analysis will reveal the microbial compositions of the fecal microbiota that predicts subjects at risk for
overgrowth and dissemination of C. albicans and suggest microbiome-based therapeutic interventions to reduce the risk of the
Your profile: A strong interest in conducting collaborative research on the topic outlined above is paramount. Candidates are
expected to be interested in working at the boundaries of several research domains.
- Master’s degree in Systems Biology, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biophysics or a related discipline.
- Knowledge in statistical methods in the context of biological systems.
- Experience with programming (Python, Perl, C++, R).
