Cardiac research is a dedicated research focus of the University Medical Center Göttingen. Several departments are collaborating in the Heart Research Center Göttingen (HRCG) with its Collaboratice Research Center "SFB1002" and its International Graduate Programme on Cardiovascular Sciences (including DFG IRTG 1816). The HRCG is also a member of the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK). The goal of this project is to study the effect of different epigenetic mechansims on the development of heart failure. The focus of this project is the role of RNA-Methylation. Preliminary data suggest distinct role in cardiac hypertrophy vs. heart failure. A new mouse model to influence RNA methylation is available. Also cell culture experiments and the description in human tissue is part of this project. The following technics shall be performed by the applicant:
- Operation of mice (transversal aortic constriction)
- Molecular and histological analyses
- In-vitro and in-vivo experiments with AAV
- iPS-derived cardiomyoycytes cell culture
- Next generation sequencing and epigenetic analyses
- Bioinformatical analyses
Trained and highly motivated student (Master of science or equal) having experience in basic science, molecular biology, cell biology, physiology or similar disciplines. Knowledge and practical skills in handling of mice and interventions are desirable. Women are especially encouraged to apply.
