Working field: In order to consolidate its international activities, the TU Berlin is merging four of its presently
separate departments into a central International Office (IO). The Director of the central International Office will therefore initially
contribute to the conceptual design and oversee the setup of the new structure.
Director of the International Office
As Director of the new IO you will be responsible for leading the team, operational and strategic activities in accordance with the Executive Board of TU Berlin. You will manage the consulting and support services for the university members and units in matters of internationalization, advance the network of global collaborations and represent the TU Berlin at events of an international character. You will implement and further advance the university’s internationalization strategy in accordance with the Executive Board and in close coordination with various stakeholders. You will advise the faculties, heads and administrative units in questions concerning internationalization in research, teaching, mobility and other relevant areas. We expect you to attach particular importance to organizing the International Office as a user-oriented consulting and support service for all members of the TU Berlin. You will actively communicate the internationalization strategy and activities throughout the university. Also, you will initiate and engage in applying for, administrating and managing external funding for internationalization projects. In addition to personnel responsibility for the staff members, you will be responsible for the administration and appropriation of the IO’s budgetary and external funds. As Director of the International Office, you will have a broad range of activities and scope for further strategic development. Requirements: Successful candidates must have completed a university degree, PhD an asset; several years of relevant experience in the field of internationalization/international cooperation, preferably gained at a higher education institution; thorough knowledge of the German and international higher education systems as well as third party funding programs and their management; proven experience in leading a team of employees; coordination as well as strong strategy and communication skills; service orientation and good networking skills; proficiency in German and English, additional fluent language skills a plus; relevant experience abroad; experience in organizational development and change management processes as well as (university) marketing is desirable.
