BIH CHAIR FOR CLINICAL-TRANSLATIONAL SCIENCES AND FOUNDING DIRECTOR OF THE BIH CLINICAL-TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH CENTERThe Candidate
The BIH invites applications for the position of BIH Chair for Clinical-Translational Sciences. The Chair will serve as Founding Director of the BIH Clinical-Translational Research Center. The Chair will possess appropriate stature as an internationally recognized clinician-scientist with outstanding track record of high-impact research and demonstrated expertise in one or more domains of clinical-translational research, including cohort and observational studies or proof-of-concept studies and early-phase clinical trials. Expertise in human subjects research and knowledge of digital medicine / eHealth approaches is desirable. The Opportunity
The Chair will provide vision and leadership to establish the BIH Clinical-Translational Research Center by recruiting outstanding scientists and staff, and by promoting collaborations among investigators and clinician-scientists. The Center will provide a new intellectual and operational hub for clinical-translational research, building on a state-of-the-art clinical research unit, biobank, integrated clinical and research data infrastructure, and strong faculty in biostatistics and clinical epidemiology. As Director of the BIH Clinical-Translational Research Center, the Chair will work with leading researchers and clinicians to foster translational collaboration of the BIH research commons and interact with complementary structures of Charité and MDC. The position is affiliated with the Charité. The candidates must qualify for appointment as full professor (W3-level professor) of the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin in fulfillment of the professional conditions of appointment according to § 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act. The successful candidates will be dynamic individuals with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, an excellent third-party funding record, administrative expertise, and proven commitment to education and mentorship of students, fellows and faculty. Experience with industry partnerships and regulatory environments is a plus.
