ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (W3) FOR CLINICAL AND MOLECULAR DERMATOLOGYThe successful candidate should have a distinguished record of qualifications in all areas of Clinical and Molecular Dermatology. He/she will be appointed section head of the section "Molecular Dermatology" of the Dept. of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergy Mannheim. As an independent principle investigator, the candidate should strengthen basic and translational research in the fields of dermatooncology and vascular dermatology or alternatively dermato-immunology. He/she takes part in the Excellence Center Dermatology Mannheim of the State of Baden-Württemberg. He/she is expected to participate in the Research Training Group 2099/1 "Hallmarks of Skin Cancer" (www.rtg2099.de) of the German Research Community (DFG), to strengthen the Research Focus Oncology and/or Vascular Biology and Medicine of the Medical Faculty Mannheim, and to faithfully co-operate with the Section of Experimental Dermatology and with the Clinical Co-Operation Unit Dermato-Oncology of the German Cancer Research Center Heidelberg at the Dept. of Dermatology, Venereology, and Allergy Mannheim. The successful candidate will serve as a consultant in Dermatology and - if possible - in Dermatopathology at the Dept. of Dermatology, Venereology, and Allergy Mannheim with the consent of the University Medical Center Mannheim.
Prerequisites for application are a university degree and a doctoral degree (MD or MD/PhD) and (in accordance with Article 47, paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the state of Baden-Württemberg) a Habilitation in Dermatology and Venereology, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent qualifications. The successful candidate should have high ranking, internationally acknowledged academic qualifications commensurate with the rank of an associate professor with life-time tenure including extraordinary clinical and teaching skills, board certification in dermatology and venereology, excellent competence in clinical dermatology and patient care as well as in dermatopathology, a distinguished record of original research, administrative experience and an understanding of departmental financing in universities. He/she is furthermore expected to obtain extramural funding by grant applications to non-university funding institutions. The candidate should be a cooperative personality to actively master the integrative task of participating in further developing the medical curriculum of the Faculty, MaReCuMplus.
The position is tenured and, by observing the legal regulations and the budget law, the appointment will normally be made on the basis of a lifetime civil servant status (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit).
