Assistant professorship (W2, tenure track)
for Theoretical Chemistry

to be filled as soon as possible.
This Assistant Professorship strengthens the cross-disciplinary research priority "Theoretical Chemistry" of the department in the field of quantum chemistry. We look for candidates who work on the development and application of quantum chemistry calculation methods. These may include highly correlated-, or more efficient, wavefunction-based techniques, or methods based on density functional theory. Collaboration with experimental groups in the department on practical chemical questions is expected. Examples include questions in the field of homogeneous or heterogeneous catalysis, functional principles of drug action and design, polymers or energy materials, and the interpretation and prediction of spectroscopic parameters.
He or she will be expected to teach undergraduate level courses and graduate level courses in theoretical chemistry and contribute to the general teaching duties of the department in main and secondary subjects.
The successful candidate demonstrates an outstanding scientific profile in quantum chemistry together with excellent future development prospects.
The professorship is financed by funds from the "Bund-Länder-Programm zur Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses".
Regulations on the maximum period of scientific activities after the acquisition of the PhD degree as well as all additional requirements for employment are subject to § 64 section 3 HHG in the respective current versions. The Assistant Professorship is designed as Qualification Professorship as per § 64 HHG. For the position the option for a tenured full professorship after a successful tenure procedure is given.
The position is initially limited to six years. Remuneration follows the German W-Besoldung at level W2 Hessisches Besoldungsgesetz.
