Assistant or Associate Professor in Computer Science – Data Science and Business Process Analytics / Senior Researcher (tenure-track)

Kühne Logistics University (KLU) and Hasso-Plattner-Institute (HPI) for Software Systems Engineering at the University of Potsdam have joined forces building on each other‘s excellence in teaching and research.

Located in the heart of Hamburg, one of Europe‘s most livable cities, KLU is a fast-growing international university that offers a vibrant research environment and provides all the opportunities of an entrepreneurial private business school offering multiple Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees in the domains of Management and Logistics. Our faculty are leading scholars and dedicated teachers that publish their work in the best journals and are closely connected to the vibrant German business community.
KLU, named after its founder and donor, Klaus-Michael Kühne, is a private, independent, international, and state-recognized business school. With a strong emphasis on logistics, supply chain management, and general management in research and education, KLU has a young and ambitious faculty.

HPI is named after one of the founders and current Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of SAP SE, Hasso Plattner, and is financed by his foundation. HPI runs two innovative degree programs in "IT Systems Engineering", offering Bachelor and Master degrees for educating future leaders of the global IT industry.

The candidate should be focused on data-driven decision support, data mining, data analysis, pattern recognition, process mining, data driven performance management and/or big data in the application area of logistics and supply chain management. Teaching and research will involve both our institutions. We seek to fill a joint position at the level of:
  • Assistant or Associate Professor at Kühne Logistics University and
  • Senior Researcher at Hasso-Plattner-Institute, University of Potsdam
Candidates should combine a strong demonstrated research potential in an area of Data Science or Business Intelligence within Computer Science relevant to Logistics and Management with inspiring teaching and a willingness to contribute to institution building and industry outreach. We are seeking talented and highly motivated candidates with a demonstrable record of internationally recognized research and excellent teaching abilities. We value experience in obtaining or having operated in an environment with research funds from government, state funded institutions, industry, and other third parties.

Candidates do not need to speak German, as the institutional and instruction language is English at both institutions.

KLU Professorship in Data Science and Business Intelligence / HPI Senior Researcher They need to have a doctorate in computer science, information systems or a related field and at least several years of very successful research and teaching. Depending on the experience and academic record of the applicant, the position may be filled at the assistant or associate professor level (tenure track).

We will offer an internationally competitive salary (90.000 – 130.000 EUR) and bonus, a teaching commitment of 150 academic hours per year at KLU plus 25 academic hours at HPI, annual research budget (25.000 – 30.000 EUR), and administrative support. In addition, KLU will contribute generously to an approved superannuation scheme.
