Assistant Breeder (m/f)

Our Rye Breeding Team is seeking at the earliest possible starting date an Assistant Breeder (m/f) on a full-time and permanent basis contract. The position is located at KWS LOCHOW GMBH in Bergen-Wohlde, Germany.

Your tasks:
  • Management of our team for line development and selection
  • Implementation of crossing plans
  • Management of field activities to self and evaluate inbred lines
  • Line selection based on phenotypic and genomic-estimated breeding values in close interaction with our testing and breeding-technology teams
  • Organization and documentation of seed flows between our linedevelopment and seed-production teams
  • Close interaction with our line conversion team
  • Supervision of special prebreeding-projects

Your profile:
  • B.Sc., M.Sc. or Ph.D in plant breeding, agronomy or related field
  • Good basis in breeding methods, phytopathology and agronomy
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Office and familiarity with standard general-purpose statistical software and databases
  • Knowledge in experimental design and phenotypic data analysis is advantageous
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in German and English language
  • Abilitity to collaborate with a team of breeders, scientists and technicians in KWS and academic partners
  • Availability to travel in Germany and abroad
  • Driver’s license
