in research and teaching. The Faculty of Biology, Chemistry & Earth Sciences is currently seeking to appoint
Two (Full) Professors for Physical Chemistry (pay grade: W3)
to commence as soon as possible. These are permanent civil service positions.
The Faculty of Biology, Chemistry & Earth Sciences is seeking two internationally renowned scientists with broad experience in a
field of physical chemistry that strengthens the research expertise in the focus area of “Polymer and Colloid Science,” a
long-standing focus area at the University of Bayreuth. By addressing modern physico-chemical methods both candidates should complement
the methods already present at the University of Bayreuth. In this line, close cooperation with research institutions in the field of
material science at the University of Bayreuth such as at the “Bavarian Polymer Institute” and the “Bayreuth Centre
for Colloids & Interface” is expected. The successful candidates will be involved in teaching the Bachelor of Science programmes
’Chemistry’ and ’Polymer & Colloid Chemistry,” and in the Master of Science programmes “Polymer Science” and
’Materials Chemistry and Catalysis” as well as other master’s programmes offered by the University of Bayreuth. He or she will
also contribute to the doctoral programme “Polymer Science” and the programme of study “Macromolecular Science”
(which belongs to the Elite Network of Bavaria).
Requirements for this position (in accordance with Article 7 and Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG) are a university degree, a doctoral degree,
proven excellence in teaching and a post-doctoral qualification to teach at a professorial level (Habilitation). Alternatively evidence of
equivalent scholarly achievement, for example as a junior professor or in a non-university environment, will also be considered. The ability
to teach in English is expected. Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be hired as civil servants (Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG).
