World Health Summit in Berlin: Accreditation details for Journalists

From October 21st - 24th 2012, the World Health Summit will gather high-ranking participants from more than 90 countries in Berlin and thus present journalists an impressive variety of rare stories and backgrounds.

Journalists will find an ideal infrastructure for their work at the World Health Summit, including free WiFi, daily press-conferences, etc.

Under the motto "Research for Health and Sustainable Development", and the high patriarchy of Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, and François Hollande, President of the French Republic, topics for discussion will include:

- The Future Health Care in Times of Economic Crisis - Pressing Challenges for Research - and the Rapid Spread of Pandemics like Obesity - IT for Health - The Health2020 Plan of the World Health Organization

Expected results include ideas and recommendations that might change our future.

- Peter Seeberger, MPI Potsdam (expert on Malaria research) - Peter Piot, Imperial College London (co-discovered the Ebola virus) - Ricky Burdett, London School of Economics (Urbanization and Mental Health) - Laurie Garrett, Science Journalist and Pulitzer Prize Winner - Judith Mackay, World Lung Foundation (Keynote Speaker) - Hans Rudolf Herren, President BioVision (coordinating author of the "Green Economy Report") - Agnes Binagwaho, Minister of Health, Rwanda (Keynote Speaker) - Gan Kim Yong, Minister of Health, Singapore (Keynote Speaker)

Naturally, the list of participants includes the German and Berlin elite of academia and research like Karl Max Einhäupl (CEO Charité) or Jürgen Mlynek (president Helmholtz Association). Interviews will gladly be arranged by the press office.
