Humanitarian Logistics Case Study Competition at the KLU. The best team wins a scholarship.
For the third year in a row, Kühne Logistics University is holding a case study competition for Bachelor students. After last year's successful event with 24 participants from Germany, Turkey, Poland, and Qatar, the competition will again focus on humanitarian logistics this year.
In 2012, the theme was "a humanitarian assistance intervention in Colombia, in the aftermath of an earthquake." The teams were asked to make strategic decisions, initiate transfer thinking, demonstrate a solution-oriented approach, and make a professional presentation. And they did everything in English. At the end of April, motivated students and graduates with a business management background will once again face the logistical challenges of a humanitarian assistance intervention, based on a real case. The winning team will receive a scholarship at KLU! Participants are not required to have any prior knowledge of humanitarian logistics. The deadline for applications is April 14, 2013. For more information, visit www.the-klu.org Bachelor students and graduates, preferably with some knowledge of business management, must solve a problem in the Humanitarian Logistics field in advance to be eligible to participate in the contest. KLU will invite the people who submit a persuasive solution to participate in the actual case competition. Teams of two people will be created on-site at KLU, and then they will be given a real-world logistics task related to disaster relief or to development operations. The teams will only have a few hours to work out a practical, strategic solution and then present it to a jury consisting of KLU professors and practitioners. A task for innovative thinkers, strategists, and people who would like some insight into the key role logistics plays in the work of aid organizations. Applicants only need to send a brief email containing the code words "Case Competition" to firstname.lastname@example.org and they will receive the case study for qualification. The submission deadline is April 14, 2013. The case competition itself is planned for April 27, 2013 and will take place on the Kühne Logistics University HafenCity campus in Hamburg, Germany (Brooktorkai 20, 4th floor, 20457 Hamburg, Germany). Your contact point at KLU is Christine Sänger, 040 328707-152, email@example.com.
