The table summarises the universities where research is a strength for biology. A university is called strong in research if it is placed in the leader group in at half of all indicators. The University of Tübingen was the only university to achieve seven out of seven top rankings, while the TU Munich and the University of Heidelberg both scored six. Heidelberg also has a good reputation amongst professors, as does the TU Berlin, even though it only had four top rankings. Of the eleven universities in the leading research group, four are new this year. Two that were there in 2003 have dropped out.
