Vision and Machine Learning“

Our team is looking for an open-minded and renowned personality who is committed to both practice-oriented teaching and applied research, and who strives to shape the future in the field of computer vision and machine learning. Your tasks:

• Our students look forward to hands-on and didactically appealing lectures and exercises, especially in the areas of image processing and pattern recognition as well as on the methods of artificial intelligence and machine learning. You are passionate about sharing your knowledge with young people and also enjoy lecturing on fundamentals.
• With your application-oriented research, you complement the existing activities in our strategic focus area of artificial intelligence and make significant contributions to computer vision and machine learning. A contribution of your research to the university’s Center for Machine Learning is encouraged.

Your profile:

• You are a team player with enthusiasm for practice-oriented teaching and applied research.
• You have proven professional expertise in the areas of computer vision and machine learning.
• We assume and expect your willingness to participate in academic self-administration, interdisciplinary cooperation and the acquisition of external funding and grants. Teaching experience and proven didactic skills in higher education are advantageous.

As hiring requirements you bring with you (see, among other things, § 47 of the State University Act):

• A completed degree in computer science, mathematics, physics or a comparable subject.
• Special achievements in the application of scientific knowledge in at least five years of professional practice (at least 3 years of which were outside of the university sector).
• The proven ability to do scientific work, usually demonstrated by a doctorate.
• Practical pedagogical and didactic aptitude (e.g., when using new learning media).
• Experience in applying for and conducting publicly funded research projects is desirable; relevant and up-to-date peer reviewed publications are a prerequisite.
• Spoken and written English competency and the willingness to offer courses in English. German language proficiency is a plus.

If the requirements under civil service law are met, the first appointment is initially to a probationary civil service position. If the candidate's suitability is proven, he or she will subsequently be appointed as a permanent civil servant. The conclusion of a fixed-term contract of employment is possible. Our offer:
