Your tasks:
The Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at the TH OWL is committed to the sustainable design and development of landscapes and open spaces.
We are looking for a person who represents the field of landscape planning, landscape ecology and nature conservation in the research and teaching of the Bachelor's degree programmes "Landscape Architecture", "Landscape Construction and Green Space Management", "Open Space Management" as well as the German- and English-language Master's degree programmes that build on this.
In the Landscape Department, they work intensively with the departments of Vegetation Science and Landscape Planning and Recreation Provision and, together with them, teach the field of landscape planning.
Their main topics in research and teaching are:
- scientific and planning methodological foundations for the legal tasks of nature conservation and landscape planning, especially with regard to material-physical functions and diversity conservation
- Landscape and biodiversity change with regard to services and functions, especially under the influence of human use and climate change
- Sustainable spatial development in cooperation with agriculture and forestry, e.g. through use-integrated nature and landscape conservation and corresponding instruments of the main land users
- cultural landscape genesis and development
You are expected to bring in knowledge from related subject areas such as animal ecology, soil protection, water protection, etc. and to integrate it into the legal basis of nature and species conservation and environmental policy frameworks (Green Deal, CAP, etc.).
In addition, you will promote innovative and interdisciplinary study and communication formats for interdisciplinary teaching and for dialogue between science and society. This may include, in particular, student projects that are interdisciplinary and, if possible, involve several departments. If necessary, you will provide 25% of your teaching as digital teaching to enable interdisciplinary events.
You identify with the university's supervision concept, which requires a high degree of presence of the lecturers at the university location and the willingness to take on tasks of self-administration of the university. You offer your courses in German. Furthermore, you are willing to conduct courses in English.
Your profile:
- You have a doctorate in a relevant field of knowledge (preferable landscape planning / landscape architecture)
- You have teaching experience with innovative and interdisciplinary formats and are able to design practice-oriented project work
- You are able to conduct courses in German and English
- You are willing to participate in the development of new degree programmes
- They are willing to cooperate in research and teaching within the entire university, with other universities and institutes in the region (e.g. in the field of digitalisation, BIM, X-planning, development of rural areas)
- You are willing and able to actively conduct research in the research focus area of cultural landscape at the TH OWL and to acquire third-party funding
