The University of Münster will be introducing a new teaching degree programme in special needs educa-tion (SNE) with specialisation in learning (L) and emotional and social development (ESD) in the winter se-mester 2023/24. The responsibility for these areas lies with the Institute of Education (FB 06) and the Insti-tute for Psychology in Education (FB 07), respectively.
The Institute of Education (IfE) of the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences (FB 6) at the University of Münster (WWU) seeks to fill the following position at soon as possible:
W1-level professorship (f/m/d) in educational science with specialisation in didactics and school research in inclusive education (with W2 tenure track)
This professorship is one of three professorships in the Institute of Education and two professorships in the Institute for Psychology in Education responsible for administering and developing the abovementioned new teaching degree programme in special needs education.
The prospective appointee shall represent the didactics of inclusive instruction as a teaching, learning and interaction situation, as well as the concepts, perspectives and fields of activity related to inclusive school and instructional improvement in research and teaching. We expect the candidate to have a recognisable research focus on the development of teaching-learning processes and methods for handling diversity in inclusive learning settings with respect to “learning” and/or “emotional and social development” in the field of special needs education. Furthermore, expertise is desired in media-aided learning forms in inclusive teaching and the multi-professional design of teaching-learning processes.
The candidate’s responsibilities include conducting courses in subject-relevant modules of the bachelor’s and master’s teaching degree programmes in special needs education, as well as other teaching degree-related study programmes and bachelor’s and master’s programmes in educational science. The candi-date should also contribute to building and conceptually developing the teaching degree programme in special needs education, supervise students during their in-school practical phases, administer examina-tions, and participate in academic self-administration.
We expect candidates to:
- have cultivated a recognisable educational scientific or special needs or inclusion pedagogical profile in research and teaching
- possess an empirical research orientation
and ideally
- have cultivated existing partnerships
- possess initial experience with procuring third-party funding.
We expect the candidate to work with the thematically relevant research groups at the Institute of Education and the Institute for Psychology in Education, as well as the subject-related didactic areas in the special-needs education teaching degree programme.
In accordance with § 36 and § 37 of the NRW Higher Education Act (HG NRW), the application requirements include:
- an above-average, thematically relevant university degree
- doctoral degree in educational science or special needs, or an inclusion-pedagogical subject
- initial publications beyond one’s dissertation which have the potential of generating visibility in the international research community
- experience in teaching and aptitude in higher-education didactics.
