Within the scope of its strategic planning, the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) aims to consistently advance its focal research areas neurosciences, cardiovascular medicine, and oncology by integrating approaches from both translational and systems medicine approaches. On the Göttingen Campus, the UMG is tightly networked with the institutes of natural and biological sciences of the university, as well as with the non-university research institutions at Göttingen Campus.

University professorship Translational Cancer Research
(Pay grade W2, tenure track)

Commencing as soon as possible. The position will be appointed initially for a period of 5 years with an option for a tenured position.
Ideally, the research focus of the applicant is in solid gastrointestinal tumors (colorectal, pancreas). Apart from a focus in genomic or epigenomic research, a focus in in the imaging field may also be considered.
For the offered position, the UMG is looking for a medical doctor or a natural scientist with a distinctive research profile in translational oncological research up to Phase I clinical trials.
Prerequisite for the appointment are past success in attaining competitive third-party funding, a high level of integration capability in surgical facilities and into the Göttingen Comprehensive Cancer Center (G-CCC), as well as willingness for interdisciplinary scientific work. In addition, visibility in translational oncological research up to Phase I clinical trials is highly desired.
The UMG expects the candidates to have completed a junior professorship with a positive evaluation, habilitation or equal scientific achievement and pedagogical aptitude just as much as willingness to engage in academic self-administration and a strong commitment to teaching.
Further requirements for the appointment of university professors are laid out in the current version of § 25 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Lower Saxony (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz). The University Medical Center Göttingen holds the right of appointment.
