University Professor - salary grade W3
for the chair of "Structural Biology".
The professorship is an innovation professorship, which is an instrument of strategic planning in higher education, in order to quickly and flexibly enhance promising disciplines.

The research profile should be in the field of developing and applying innovative scientific methods to research questions in structural biology.
In the framework of experimental and computational research activities special emphasis should be directed towards applications in understanding
protein function. Participation in interdisciplinary teams and initiation of such teams is expected particularly in the field of the Excellence-Cluster
UniSysCat. In teaching, courses must be provided for undergraduate and master students of Biotechnology. Applicants must be able to conduct their lectures
in English and, after a learning period and restricted to undergraduate teaching, as well in German. Therefore applicants are expected to learn either
English or German. The role includes responsibility for supervising thesis work at all levels and for participating in academic governance.
Candidates should fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including
a finished academic education in Biotechnology or a natural science discipline, qualified achievements in research (PhD), post-doctoral lecture qualification
(Habilitation) or equivalent qualification (e.g., documented by quality of scientific papers) and pedagogical didactic qualifications, to be given proof of by
a teaching portfolio (for more information see TUB website, quick access no. 144242).
Candidates should have an internationally visible research profile in the field of structural biology with special emphasis on innovative methods as reflected
by high quality scientific publications. Prior participation in interdisciplinary teams as well as international experience are desired. Experience in teaching
as well as acquisition and management of research projects is expected. Experience in student supervision, leading a larger research team, gendermainstreaming
and in academic governance are desired.
